A Well Plan is the pre-drill planned trajectory (MD/INC/AZI) for a well — imported the same way as actual survey data, and plotted alongside it on the GeoSteering cross-section so you can compare planned vs. actual path.

This flow is nearly identical to Import Survey (Trajectory) Data — same wizard, same column-mapping mechanics, same header fields. The differences are called out below rather than repeating everything.

Where to Import a Well Plan

  1. Open a project and go to the GeoSteering tab.

  2. In the left data/objects panel, find your well's node, then its Well Plans node.

  3. Click the + (create) button on the Well Plans node to open Import Plan.

Existing plans appear as children of that node with a ⋯ menu offering Property and Delete. Note: as of this build those two actions aren't wired up yet (clicking them currently does nothing) — there's also no working Edit or Set Active yet, so once a plan is imported, re-running Import Plan is the only way to add another.

The wizard has three steps: Import Plan → Review Mapping → Confirm Import.

Step 1 — Import Plan (choose your source)

Identical to survey import:

TabWhat it does
DrivePick a file already stored in GeoMaster Drive
UploadUpload a new file from your computer
Blank SpreadsheetA grid pre-set with MD, INC, AZI columns

Click Continue to move to mapping.

Step 2 — Review Mapping

Same as survey import: file info, row summary, warnings, and the column mapping table (File Column → Mnemonic → Source Unit → Warning → Ignore). The same survey header fields apply here too:

  • Grid Convergence / Magnetic Declination — shown depending on whether you mapped a true- or magnetic-azimuth column.

  • Tie-In — toggle to enter MD/TVD/East/North and tie the plan into a reference point.

The one thing missing here compared to survey import: there's no Import Mode selector. A plan import doesn't ask how to combine with existing data — see Step 3 for what that means in practice.

Click Continue to run a dry-run and move to confirmation.

📸 Screenshot 3: The Review Mapping step for a well plan, showing the column mapping table and the Tie-In section — note there's no mode-selector card below it.

Step 3 — Confirm Import

  • Title (optional) — name this plan.

  • Errors / warnings recap.

  • Data preview table — read-only grid of the rows to be imported.

No mode recap and no before/after row counts appear here — since there's no mode to choose in Step 2, there's nothing to recap; you just get the straight data preview.

Click Import to commit. A "Import completed." toast confirms success, and the plan appears under the well's Well Plans node and on the cross-section.
