Collaboration

GeoMaster is designed for multi-user workflows. Multiple team members can work within the same project simultaneously, with live updates visible to all active users.

User Roles

Every user in a project is assigned a role that controls what they can see and do:

RolePermissions
OwnerFull access. Can edit all data, manage team, change settings, delete project.
EditorCan edit geological model, add steering decisions, import data, use GeoEngine. Cannot manage team or delete project.
ViewerRead-only access. Can view all data and GeoEngine chat history but cannot make changes.

The project creator is automatically assigned the Owner role.

Inviting Team Members

  1. Go to Team tab in the project workspace (or Project Settings → Team)

  2. Click Invite Member

  3. Enter the colleague's email address

  4. Select their role (Editor or Viewer)

  5. Click Send Invitation

The invited user receives an email with a link to join the project. If they do not have a GeoMaster account, they will be prompted to create one.

Note: Invited users must have an active GeoMaster account to access the project. Viewer access is available on all plans. Editor seats may be limited depending on your subscription tier.

Live Session Sharing

When multiple users have the same project open simultaneously:

  • Active users are shown as avatar icons in the top-right of the workspace

  • Cursor positions are visible to other users in the Geosteering workspace (shown as named cursors)

  • Formation top picks made by one user appear immediately for all others

  • Steering decisions added by one user are visible to all in real time

  • GeoEngine chat is shared — all users in the project can see the conversation history

Conflict Resolution

If two users attempt to edit the same formation top simultaneously, GeoMaster applies a last-write-wins rule and notifies both users of the conflict. Review the change history (Data → Change Log) if a conflict occurs.

Change Log and Audit Trail

Every change made to a project is recorded in the Change Log:

  1. Go to Data → Change Log

  2. View a timestamped list of all edits, including:

  • Who made the change

  • What was changed (formation top pick, geological model edit, steering decision, etc.)

  • The previous and new values

The Change Log cannot be edited or deleted. It provides a full audit trail for operational decisions made during the well.

Removing a Team Member

  1. Go to Team tab → find the user

  2. Click the ··· menu next to their name

  3. Select Remove from Project

  4. Confirm the removal

Removed users lose access immediately. Their past contributions (steering decisions, formation picks) remain in the project and Change Log.

Transferring Project Ownership

To transfer the Owner role to another team member:

  1. Go to Team tab

  2. Click ··· next to the target user → Make Owner

  3. Confirm the transfer

Your role will automatically change to Editor after the transfer.
