The Capabilities tab is a directory of what powers GeoEngine's agents under the hood: the discrete skills they call, and the data connections (MCP servers) they draw on. It's reference material, not something you interact with directly.
Opening the Capabilities Tab
From the GeoEngine page, click the Capabilities tab (or go to /geoengine?tab=capabilities).
A row of filter pills at the top lets you narrow the view: All, Skills, MCP Servers, Resources & Tools.

Skills
"Discrete operations agents call to search, synthesise, remember, and validate. Each skill is independently testable and single-purpose."
| Skill | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
fetch\_project\_context | Reads wells, logs, trajectories, and tops from your project | Active |
gather\_field\_sources | Web search via Tavily and Brave for field-specific sources | Active |
synthesise\_field\_report | LLM synthesis of multi-source field intelligence | Active |
get\_chat\_history | Loads conversation history for context-aware responses | Active |
save\_chat\_message | Persists messages for session continuity | Active |
validate\_field\_name | Validates oil/gas field names before intelligence generation | Active |
get\_cached\_intelligence | Retrieves cached field reports to avoid redundant generation | Active |
save\_intelligence | Persists generated field intelligence with a 30 day TTL | Active |
extract\_field\_context | Extracts field name and context from project metadata | Active |
suggest\_extensions | Recommends relevant GeoEngine extensions based on usage | Active |

MCP Servers
"Data connections that give agents access to your project, the web, formation tops, and conversation memory. Any MCP-compatible server can be connected."
| Server | What it provides | Status |
|---|---|---|
database | GeoMaster project data: wells, logs, trajectories, tops | Active |
web\_search | Tavily and Brave search providers for field intelligence | Active |
memory | Conversation memory and intelligence caching | Active |
trajectory | Directional survey data and minimum curvature calculations | Active |
logs | LWD/MWD curve data (GR, RHOB, NPHI, resistivity) | Active |
tops | Formation tops and stratigraphic markers | Active |
extensions | Third-party MCP server marketplace | Coming soon |
Below the MCP Servers card, a note explains: GeoEngine's MCP architecture is open, so any MCP-compatible server can be connected. A separate GeoEngine developer platform (not yet launched) will let people build, publish, and monetise custom agents, skills, and MCP servers, including students and AI developers publishing to a GeoEngine marketplace.

Resources & Tools (Coming soon)
This section describes a planned capability, not something live yet: publishing your own reference data, lookup tables, or simple equation-based tools (pore pressure calculators, ECD models, lithology classifiers) for agents and other users to call. No coding required for equation-based tools.
Agents
Agents are GeoEngine's specialist AI workers. Each one has a defined purpose, accesses a specific set of data sources, and consumes credits per operation.
Profile
The Profile tab is where you manage your identity in GeoMaster: your name, contact details, professional background, locale preferences, and account deletion.
