GeoEngine — AI Assistant

GeoEngine is GeoMaster's built-in AI assistant. It combines knowledge of your active project — well data, geological model, real-time logs — with the ability to search current industry sources, giving you a context-aware technical advisor available directly in your geosteering workspace.

Opening GeoEngine

From the project workspace, click the GeoEngine tab in the top navigation bar.

GeoEngine loads with two panels:

Chat Assistant

How to Ask a Question

  1. Click the text input at the bottom of the left panel

  2. Type your question

  3. Press Enter or click Send

  4. GeoEngine responds within a few seconds

GeoEngine remembers your conversation history within the project. You can ask follow-up questions without repeating context.

What GeoEngine Knows About Your Project

GeoEngine has automatic access to:

  • Well trajectory (current survey stations)

  • Formation tops and geological model

  • Active log data (most recent values from WITSML or imported LAS)

  • Your previous chat history in this project

You do not need to paste in your data. GeoEngine retrieves it from your project automatically.

What to Ask GeoEngine

GeoEngine is designed for technical geosteering and drilling queries. Examples:

Formation and log interpretation:

  • "GR has risen sharply in the last 10 metres. Are we likely approaching the shale cap?"

  • "What does the resistivity separation between deep and shallow curves suggest at current depth?"

  • "Based on current formation tops, how much TST is left in the reservoir section?"

Steering decisions:

  • "The bit is 3 metres below the planned path. What options do I have to correct trajectory?"

  • "We're approaching the planned TD. Is there a case to extend based on the current log response?"

Technical reference:

  • "Explain the difference between TST and TVT in a deviated well."

  • "What DLS values are typically acceptable for rotary steerable drilling in a 6-inch hole?"

Field intelligence:

  • "Are there any recent case studies from the North Sea Brent Group relevant to our formation?"

  • "What are common geosteering challenges in tight carbonate reservoirs?"

GeoEngine Response Format

GeoEngine responses include:

  • A direct answer to your question

  • Reference to your project data where relevant (e.g. current depth, formation, log values)

  • Caveats or limitations where the AI's confidence is lower

  • Suggested follow-up actions or checks where appropriate

Responses are formatted in markdown — headers, bullet points, and tables will render correctly in the chat panel.

Important: GeoEngine is an AI assistant. Its responses are based on the data in your project and general technical knowledge. Always validate AI-generated interpretations against your own engineering judgement and, where applicable, consult with your team or service company.

Field Intelligence Panel

The Field Intelligence panel provides a curated summary of recent industry information relevant to your project's field or formation.

What Field Intelligence Contains

  • Recent technical papers or case studies from the relevant basin or formation type

  • Industry news related to your operating area

  • Regulatory or safety notices relevant to your region

Refreshing Field Intelligence

Field intelligence is cached for up to 30 days. To retrieve the latest information:

  1. Click Refresh in the top-right of the Field Intelligence panel

  2. GeoEngine will search current industry sources and regenerate the summary

  3. The panel updates within 30–60 seconds

Collapsing the Panel

Click Hide Intel in the top-right of the GeoEngine tab to collapse the Field Intelligence panel and give more space to the chat. Click again to restore it.

GeoEngine Chat History

All GeoEngine conversations are saved against the project. To review previous sessions:

  1. In the Chat Assistant panel, scroll upward to see earlier messages

  2. History is retained for the lifetime of the project

Note: Chat history is project-scoped. If you open a different project, you will see that project's chat history, not the current one.

GeoEngine and Your Subscription Plan

GeoEngine availability depends on your subscription plan:

Tips for Getting the Best Results

  • Be specific about depth. Instead of "what's happening with the logs", ask "at 3,450 m MD, GR is 95 API and deep resistivity is 2 ohm·m — what does this suggest?"

  • Reference the formation by name. GeoEngine uses your geological model — using formation names helps it pull the right context.

  • Use it for second opinions. If you have a steering recommendation in mind, ask GeoEngine to critique it or identify risks.

  • Refresh Field Intelligence before important decisions. Especially when approaching a known challenge zone.
